Sorry I haven't posted any long rants lately. It's the final week of classes and I'm busy catching up with missing work and studying for the last tests before finals week.
Anyway, I was recently speaking to a friend about the honey bee crisis (Bee Colony Collapse...I think it's called) and I was shocked to hear that she knew nothing about it. So I did some research and found that about half the students in my dorm know nothing about what's happening with the honey bees. This is an atrocity. Honey bees all over the world are disappearing. No one knows the cause of the strange behaviour. And as much as scientists are studying there seems to be no quick solution to the issue. Bee Colony Collapse might seem unimportant to us humans. But the bees play an extremely important role in our food system. Honey bees pollinate about 1/3 of our food. Without them, we would lose 1/3 of our food. 1/3. As if hunger wasn't a problem already... So if you have the time, please look into some articles about bee colony collapse. Educate yourself on this huge issue. And then tell your friends all about it. Maybe they'll be just as affected by the severity of the situation and tell their friends. The only way to help the bees is to get as many people aware of their status as possible. Spread the word!
